Short Bio

Tracy Zanini is an environmental and regulatory consultant and expert in consultation and engagement processes with Indigenous communities. Tracy has over a decade of experience working with Indigenous Nations, federal, provincial and municipal governments, as well as not-for-profit and private sector entities. As the Principal Consultant and Owner of Sociality Consulting Inc., Tracy works with Indigenous Nations across Canada providing support in consultation and engagement processes, negotiations with resource extraction companies, and engagements with various government bodies to advance Indigenous rights and interests in the path towards reconciliation. As a former federal senior advisor with Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, she has been active in a dozen federal and provincial impact/environmental assessments on projects ranging from open pit and underground mines, to transmission lines, rail lines, bridges and airport runways. Tracy also previously worked for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks where she was a senior negotiator for the 2021 Canada-Ontario Agreement on Great Lakes Water Quality and Ecosystem Health. Internationally, Tracy has worked as consultant for the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, supporting the United Nation’s corporate partnerships initiatives for global environmental protection.

Tracy holds an MPhil in environmental conservation from the University of Cambridge in the UK and a B.A. in political science and environmental studies from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
